1 Day Nairobi City Tour

Kenya is one of the top safari destinations in Africa with variety of wildlife and cultural activities. Many visitors though have little knowledge of its capital, Nairobi, which also provides some of the most unique travel experiences in East Africa.

Just minutes from the city center you can get up close and feed a giraffe, watch baby orphan elephants play in the mud, and visit the legendary home of Karen Blixen, creator of "Out of Africa." There is so much to see and do in this full-day adventure around Nairobi.

Detailed program

0900HRS:

You will be picked up from your Nairobi Hotel and immediately drive to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This is a world-renowned sanctuary rescues orphaned elephants throughout Africa and hand raises them with expertise and love. The Sheldrick Family has been taking in and caring for theseorphaned babies for over forty years. Over 200 have now been rescued and you can experience up close the expressions of compassion and caring in this very special place for one hour. The orphanage opens for 1 hour to the public between 1100hrs and 1200hrs.

1230HRS

Afterwards, you will be driven to The Giraffe Center. Here at the Giraffe Centre, you can climb up the feeding tower and hand feed a food pellet to an inquisitive giraffe. Some lucky visitors have been known to get a giraffe kiss!The Centre is a refuge for the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. Here we'll learn about this beautiful species at the special Information Centre. You may also find yourself surrounded by dozens of schoolchildren, as this is a favorite outing for Kenya's youngsters.

1430HRS

You will then proceed to Karen Blixen Museum. Considered one of the top 5 activities when exploring Nairobi in Kenya, the Karen Blixen Museum takes visitors back in time in the history of Kenya, on which Karen Blixen's memoir "Out of Africa" was based. You will be taken through it's history from how Karen and her husband purchased the house and the farm in 1917 and their failed farming to the rooms they used to stay up until the death her husband.

The museum transports one back in time and it seems to belong to a distant past surrounded by the beautiful and tranquil garden, indigenous forest and with the view of the Ngong Hills in the distance. There is also a shop at the museum which sells posters and postcards, the movie 'Out of Africa' and various other Kenyan souvenirs.During the tour of the typical period house, visitors will be able to gain a greater understanding of European settlements and cultivation in the early 1900s in East Africa.

1600HRS

Our last stop will be at Kazuri Beads Shopwhere where we'll be able to view the artists at work and visit the gift shop for souvenirs to support this very special business. You will then be dropped off at your respective hotel
